Tras una pelea en clase de fútbol, Roshni le confiesa a su madre que en el colegio le dicen que “huele a India”. Tampoco logra dormir bien: su abuela, recién llegada, duerme en su cuarto. En las clases de música, elige el contrabajo, aunque apenas puede sostenerlo.
After a fight during football class, Roshni tells her mother that the kids at school say she “smells like India.” She also struggles to sleep—her grandmother, recently arrived, now shares her room. In music class, she chooses the double bass, even though she can barely hold it.
Après une bagarre pendant le cours de football, Roshni confie à sa mère que les enfants de l’école disent qu’elle « sent l’Inde ». Elle a aussi du mal à dormir : sa grand-mère, tout juste arrivée, partage désormais sa chambre. En cours de musique, elle choisit la contrebasse, même si elle peut à peine la porter.
Nach einem Streit im Sportunterricht erzählt Roshni ihrer Mutter, dass die Kinder in der Schule sagen, sie „rieche nach Indien“. Sie kann auch kaum schlafen – ihre Großmutter, die gerade angekommen ist, teilt sich nun ihr Zimmer. Im Musikunterricht wählt sie den Kontrabass, obwohl sie ihn kaum halten kann.

Rakesh Narwani es cineasta andaluz de origen indio, ha dirigido los cortometrajes Clóset con Pepe Viyuela, y Black Bass con Antonio de la Torre, que han obtenido una veintena de premios en festivales entre ellos Abycine, Madrid y Málaga. El Bazar de mis padres tuvo su estreno internacional en el prestigioso Black Star Film Festival en los Estados Unidos y ha sido premiado en el Mecal en Barcelona. Actualmente se encuentra escribiendo su primer largometraje de ficción, El gran bazar de mis padres, basado en la historia de su familia y que cuenta con la co-guionistas Marina Parés, el apoyo del Festival de Málaga con las Ayudas al desarrollo, así como el de Cambio de Plano, iniciativa de Dama y Netflix para visibilizar la diversidad en el audiovisual Español.
Rakesh Narwani is an Andalusian filmmaker of Indian origin, who has directed the short films Clóset with Pepe Viyuela, and Black Bass with Antonio de la Torre, which have won around twenty awards at festivals including Abycine, Madrid and Malaga. El Bazar de mis padres had its international premiere at the prestigious Black Star Film Festival in the United States and won an award at Mecal in Barcelona. Currently, he is writing his first feature film, «The Great Bazaar of My Parents,» based on his family’s story, and it features co-writer Marina Parés. The project has the support of the Málaga Film Festival through the Development Grants, as well as the support of «Cambio de Plano,» an initiative by Dama and Netflix to showcase diversity in the Spanish audiovisual industry.
